Abstract
This qualitative case study focuses on how congenital blind interactants initiate communication with strangers. It explores the strategies that the blind use to overcome the problems and feelings hich are caused by the lack of visual information, and how they seek to reduce uncertainty in different social situations; when seeking information or help on the one hand, or in making friendship situations on the other hand. The aspect of how sighted people react when approached by a blind person will also be taken into consideration since it is closely connected to the problems and feelings the blind experience and the strategies they adopt.
