Abstract
Today, virtualization is one focus of attention in computing community. The management of virtual machines become a big challenge for system administrators. In order to alleviate this problem, this project introduce a promising approach to convergent management of virtual machine with Promise Theory. So this work mainly focuses on how to find a convergent model for virtual machine management with Promise Theory.
We propose a convergent principle of maintenance: lead VMs to ideal state. In Promise Theory, we can consider virtualizaion as Knowledge Management and formulate a "promise box" for displaying the structure of virtualized environment. Based on the convergent principle and Promise Theory, we design a convergent model integrating cfengine with libvirt, which is applied to modelling scenarios to show the convergent management of virtual machines. Then imaginary comparison between cfengine, libvirt and MLN is to prove cfengine is a better choice as management tool for virtual machines.
