Abstract
In England, the systematic manipulation of Libor led to the comprehensive investigation of the banks' Libor quotations. This thesis compares Libor to the Norwegian interbank rate Nibor, and examine the problems the Norwegian rate inherits from the European continent with the current approach. Further, the thesis discusses whether the quoted rate can be justified as a Norwegian rate, before it embarks into potential alternatives to Nibor, and how alternative benchmarks could be used compared to the current system.
