Abstract
This thesis is an enquiry into how transition to adulthood is experienced in late modern culture. This is done by interviewing six young people, who are taking a gap year after high school. Indications for experiences is found in what values they display in their stories. Whether these indicates an individualization influence, as it is described by Bauman, Beck and Giddens. In other words, if they seemed to portray an epistemological fallacy. Or if they weighted more traditional morals, like the importance of family, collective support, and social influences.
