Abstract
I denne masteroppgaven undersøkes hvordan seksualitet fremstilles i norsk ungdomsfilm.
Sexuality is a central theme in Norwegian youth films. The young characters in the youth films talk about sex and dream about sex. They also have sex. Youth films are stories about young sexuality, and this thesis examines how sexuality is constructed in Norwegian youth films. There has not been much research on this topic. In this thesis, I will analyse eight Norwegian youth films produced between 2011 and 2014, using text analysis as method. The purpose is to investigate how sexuality is constructed for the youth audience. The analysis shows that the films portray a limited scope for adolescent exploration of sexuality. The youth films construct a sexuality that is heteronormative and romantically motivated. The films focus on specific sexual activities. Heterosexuality is portrayed as a normal, acceptable sexuality for young people, while other forms of sexual desire are marginalized. At the same time, heterosexual activities are very limited. Stories about sexual abuse play a central part in the movies I have analyzed. Young sexuality is presented as a quest for heterosexual intercourse. The sexual exploration that goes further than kissing, but does not lead to intercourse, is virtually absent.
