Abstract
There are currently over 2,000 completed prokaryotic sequences available. In these \caps{DNA} sequences the genes lay hidden. The genes codes for proteins that forms the foundation for all organisms. Several programs that try to locate these genes have been developed. However, little has been done to evaluate these programs on a large scale. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate these programs closer, and develop guidelines for when to use the different programs.
