Abstract
This study reveals the political issues, parties and angles that characterized the political journalism in the Norwegian television news during the election campaign in 2009. Journalistic priorities in this period have significant consequences for the support of political parties and the final election result. The political content in the television news is of great importance since the news broadcasts for many people are the main source of what's happening in politics. For the political parties, it is important to get extensive media exposure, positive publicity, and attention in cases where the party has great confidence in the population. The survey shows that news coverage during the election campaign is relatively similar in NRK and TV 2. Ap and Frp are dominant parties, while Høyre gets the most positive mention. News stories and perspectives related to the political game, power struggles and positioning often go beyond substantial issues and approaches related to the party's political stance.
