Datamaterialet består av to deler.
This thesis seeks to follow up selected newspapers working methods in two well known murders cases and especially what is often known as parallelinvestigation. The data consists of two parts. The first one is in-depths interviews with informants from selected newspapers, close relatives and the police from those districts involved. In the second part I have taken a closer look at the coverage of the murders cases in the selected newspapers, which constitute approximately 1100 articles. In both cases I have used VG and a local newspaper. In this context I conducted a content analysis based on quantitative methods. The results show that the journalists emphasize the importance of conducting their own independent investigation in parallel with the police. Something the police confirm that they have an understanding for. At the same time the findings of articles where there are traces of a parallelinvestigation are rather small. In addition to this, the study also reveals minor differences when it comes to the newspapers coverage of the murder cases, the number of sources and what type of sources they use.
