Abstract
The Master's thesis is analyzing montage tradition in the cinema within the balance of realism and aestheticism of art|the two basic tendencies of 20th century art.
De ning Eisensteinian aestheticism, describing the concrete aesthetic
strategies and methods of Eisenstein, the research attempts to uplift Eisenstein's montage theory to the level of the aesthetic phenomena of the 20th century art. Eisensteinian aesthetics is de ned through the balance between socialist realism and a specic Eisensteinian impressionism.
The production part of the project is the video advertising the all-
Ukrainian political and cultural action|the concert commemorating the
famous Ukrainian composer Ihor Bilozir.
The video is aimed to illustrate the principles of Eisenstein's theory
in practice. The aesthetic notion of irregularity and creating impression through con ict is employed in the video as a solitary instance of the Eisensteinian aesthetic strategy.
