Vold : "det er å slå sånn ordentlig" : en studie av voldsbegrepet slik det kommer til uttrykk på tre forskjellige arenaer

Abstract

Det er ikke mulig å ta stilling til om voldfremstillinger i TV påvirker barn og ungdom uten en grundig analyse av voldsbegrepet. Voldsbegrepet må analyseres ikke bare i forhold til hva som vises av vold på TV, men også i forhold til hva samfunnet og ungdommer selv opplever som vold. Tema for dette studiet er å analysere og vurdere om det er konsistens mellom hva som oppfattes som vold og hvordan volden fremstilles innenfor disse tre virkeligheter som alle omgir og påvirker ungdommene. Virkeligheten betegnes som den subjektive virkelighet, den samfunnsskapte virkelighet og den subjektive virkelighet. Vold er et komplekst fenomen, og voldsbegrepet har forskjellig innhold og uttrykk i de tre virkeligheter hvor ungdommenes erfaringsgrunnlag og den genre volden fremstiles i har betydning for hva ungdommene anser som vold og voldens påvirkningspotensiale.

It is not possible to decide to what extent violence shown on TV may effect children and youth without a thourough analysis of the concept of violence. The concept of violence must be analysed not only related to what is shown on TV, but also in relation to what the society and the youths consider to be violence. The subject of this thesis is to study whether it is consistency between the understanding of violence, and how violence is appearing within these three realities surrounding and effecting the youths. The realities are described as the media created reality, the reality created by the society and the reality as it appears to the youths. Violence is a complex phenomenon, and the concept of violence has a different meaning and expression within the three realities, where the experience of the youths and the genre the violence is presented in has relevance for youths understanding of the concept and the potential effect of violence.
