Abstract
The subject for this thesis is main points of the journalistic development in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation´s television news from 1960 to 1969. Based on systematic studies of a lot of historical sources, the thesis shows how the News Department was built up to fill the role as a national news medium, and how increasing resources and journalistic activity gradually put Dagsrevyen in this position. The study follows especially how allround journalism, the journalism on the Parliament and the Governments and the main linjes of the foreign coverage developed in Dagsrevyen. Together with the news magazines, which included the majority of the programme production form the News Department, the study shows how television established itself as a new medium for news and actuality for the whole population in the Sixties; the role played by news journalism in the historical development of what can be called the television society.
