Abstract
Vortexes are a major part of turbulence studies, and have dominating effect on aerodynamics. Vortex generators have been used for a long time on air-crafts, to delay flow separation and increase performance. In this study, we investigate on whether sharp edges on a table tennis racket can lead to increased stability by acting as vortex generators, relative to a round blade where the vortexes are formed more randomly. The LES turbulence model was used, with the WALE turbulence model. A hexahedral mesh is used for increased accuracy. The velocity and pressure fields was solved in OpenFOAM.
