In our modern society we are overwhelmed by information.Supercomputers all over the world are generating data sets containingterabytes of numerical data. In the years ahead the greatestchallenge to the scientifc community will be to make sense of allthis information. Specifically, tools will be needed to explore largemulti-dimensional data sets describing complex physical processes.Computer aided visualization will certainly be one of the mostimportant means of solving this problem.
Turbulence researchers at the Norwegian Defense ResearchEstablishment need visualization software in order to validatesimulation code, present results, and gain greater insight intophysical phenomena. In this thesis we present VoluViz, aninteractive volume visualization application developed at theNDRE, which is designed to fulfill these needs.
