Abstract
Taking a look at the framework based on the Directive 95/46 (previous legal framework) and on the General Data Protection Regulation (current legal framework), the thesis compares the right of access and its limitations and tries to address the question whether the new legislation improved the situation of data subjects regarding execution of this right. In order to provide a full picture of the problem, the thesis uses examples from national legal orders and limitations affecting the data protection, but stemming from outside of this legal field.
