Abstract
Background: ACL-rupture is a serious and frequent injury among athletes, especially in pivoting sports The treatment of choice affects both the duration of the rehabilitation period as well as the recurrence of new injuries and the athlete´s ability to return to sports. The aim of the present study is to create an overview over the outcome for non-surgically treated athletes with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. The article is meant to give a summary of the knowledge that exists in the field of non-operative ACL treatment among athletes, both when it comes to returning to the prior activity level and the occurrence of new injuries.
