Kroppslige forandringer hos kvinner med osteoporose og vertebral fraktur bør få større oppmerksomhet i klinisk praksis og forskning. dc.description.abstract | Background Osteoporosis and vertebral fracture affects many older women and is often an underdiagnosed condition. The aim of this study was to describe older women´s experience of living with osteoporosis and vertebral fracture based on the integration of findings from qualitative studies. Methods The study is based on the principles in the guidelines PRISMA; standard for systematic review. Systematic literature search was performed in Cinahl, Medline, PsychINFO and SweMed+.. Five studies were included for the inclusion criteria. It was made a thematic synthesis of findings from the included articles. Findings The synthesis identified the following main themes; bodily changes, constant and unpredictable pain, impact on everyday life, follow-up and support. The women experienced not to be seen and understood by health professionals. Reduction in height and changed posture were by the women experienced as negative, they viewed themselves as «old and bent». Conclusion Systematic pain assessment in community health can be one measure for identification of women with osteoporosis and vertebral fracture that experience pain problems. Bodily changes in women with osteoporosis and vertebral fracture should get more attention both in clinic practice and research. Key words: Compression fracture, back pain, bodily change | eng |
