Lyden av fall : En kvalitativ studie av pleiepersonells erfaringer med pasientfall i sykehus

Abstract

Masteroppgaven består av to deler; en artikkel og en refleksjonsoppgave

Formål: Artikkel: Hensikten med undersøkelsen er å øke innsikten hvordan pleiepersonell erfarer pasientfall. Refleksjonsoppgave: Belyse den metodologiske overveielsen knyttet til bildets betydning for beskrivelse av kroppslig erfaring med pasientfall i sykehus.

Litteraturgjennomgang: Artikkel: Det finns lite forskning om pleiepersonells erfaring med pasientfall i sykehus. Litteraturgjennomgangen viser behov for mer kunnskap på området. Refleksjonsoppgave: Bruken av visuell verktøy er fremdeles undervurdert i forskning og uutnyttet som ressurs i sykepleieforskning. Bruken av bilde kan være hensiktsmessig verktøy for å få frem rikelig beskrivelse og verdifull innsikt.

Metode: I artikkelen benyttes en kvalitativ, beskrivende design med individuelle intervju med sju pleiepersonell i et sykehus på Østlandet. For å illustrere deltakernes kroppslige erfaring utover det som kan uttrykkes i en samtale ble i tillegg bilde benyttet i datainnsamling. Intervjuene ble tatt opp på bånd og transkribert ordrett og analysert, basert på Kvale og Brinkmann. Refleksjonsoppgaven - Metodologien viser til bildets forhold til det teoretiske grunnlag av kroppens forståelse i et fenomenologisk perspektiv, kroppens erfaring med et fenomen og bruken av bilde som et verktøy på den ene siden og bildets betydning til å gi en annen beskrivelse av kroppslig erfaring med pasientfall enn ord alene på den andre siden.

Funn: I artikkelen er det overordnede funnet lyden av fallet med to undertema som deltagerne erfarte dette på gjennom kroppslig reaksjon og sårbare følelser. Refleksjonsoppgaven - bildets betydning for beskrivelser av kroppslig erfaring gav større innsikt i hvordan et bilde kan berike beskrivelsene mer enn ord alene og en verdifull innsikt i kunnskapen hva pleiepersonell erfarer med pasientfall i sykehus.

Konklusjon: Artikkelen - det et ønske at studiens funn vil kunne brukes i opplæring av nyansatte, veiledning knyttet til fallerfaring og videre forskning rundt erfaring med pasientfall på sykehus. Refleksjonsoppgaven - er et bidrag til videre inspirasjon til bruken av bilde som verktøy i sykepleieforskning.

The thesis consists of two parts: an article and an essay

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to increase insight of how nurses in somatic hospitals experience patient falls. The essay; to illuminate methodology reflection on the importance of image description of bodily experience of patient falls in hospital.

Literature review: The article - There is little research about how nurses experiences patient falls. The review indicates need for more knowledge in this field. The essay - the use of visual tools is still underestimated in science and untapped as a resource in nursing science. The use of image can be a appropriate tool to prodce an ample description and valuable insights.

Method: The article is based on a qualitative, descriptive design based on individual interviews with seven nurses in a hospital in the south of Norway. To illustrate the participants bodily experience more that can be express in a conversation, photography where used in data collation. The interviews were taped and transcribed verbatim and analyzed based on Kvale and Brinkmann. The essay; on one hand, the methodology using image in bodily understanding the eye of phenomenological perspective, experience of the body and image and on the other hand, the image`s significanse to desribe bodlily experience to patient falls than words alone.

Findings: The article - the overall found the sound of the fall with two sub- topics that participants experienced through bodily reaction and vulnerable feelings. The essay - the importance of image description of bodily experience gave major insight into how a picture can enrich the descriptions more than words alone and a valuable insight into the knowledge of nurses experience with patient falls in hospital.

Conclusion: The aim of the article is a wish that these findings could be used in the training of new employees, guidance on case experience and further research into the experience of patient falls in hospitals. The essay - is a contribution to the further inspiration for the use of the image as a tool in nursing research.
