Background: In this paper I want to investigate if text messages reminders have an effect on attendance in a psychiatric district centre in Oslo, Norway.
In addition I want to investigate if there is a difference in attendance in the group of clients at first time consultations and the group of clients in an established treatment process. This possible difference leads to a question if one should provide the two groups of clients with different kind of text message reminders, to achieve higher productivity efficiency and to become as cost efficient as possible.
Method: The analyses are based on the data I collected during my internship and supplemented by other research done in this field. Three statistical tests are performed to see if my observations at Lovisenberg District Psychiatric Centre can support my thoughts of text message reminder effects on attendance and the differences in the group of clients.
Results: My observations gave good support to my hypothesis about the text message reminder effects on attendance, even though they were not statistically significant. In addition my observations gives good support to my theory about difference in attendance in the group of clients at first time consultations and the group of clients in an established treatment process.
