D: Olafiaklinikken started offering a Chlamydia home testing kit from its webpage (www.olafia.no) in 2006. It is intended for asymptomatic people living in Oslo and the surrounding areas. The kit consists of testing equipment: Urine sample for men, vaginal swab for women, and also the clinic’s standard sexual history form. This paper examines the information from the forms of people who sent in tests between 01.11.2006 and 31.12.2007. RESULTS: 1932 people sent in both a test and a completed form (56% women, 44% men). 5,5% of the women and 8,6% of the men tested positive for Chlamydia. The incidence was significantly higher in the lower age groups. Mean age was 28,9 for men and 26,8 for women. Mean age for men was significantly lower in the group who used the home testing kit, than among the men that got tested in the clinic in the same time period. 43% of the women and 30,5% of the men reported having symptoms. Testing positive was associated with male gender, young age, having symptoms, and a low education level. CONCLUSIONS: Making testing easily accessible using the internet and home testing may motivate more asymptomatic people to get tested. It significantly reduced the mean age among men, which is important as young men are a group with high risk of infection. To reach a high risk population it will be important to identify what the most important risk factors for infection are. To do this more advanced statistical calculations will be necessary.eng
