Abstract
Kort sagt; Hvorfor koroppvarming?
All choirs do a joint warm-up before beginning to rehearse, except professional choirs, in which the singers are expected to be ready to sing at the start of the rehearsal. What is this warm-up, and what is it good for? Why do choirs go through such a ritual before singing?
Through studies of Norwegian and Swedish literature, and interviews with three conductors and five choir singers, I investigate the ideas behind the choral warm-up. What are the goals of the literature, the conductors and the singers? In what way is the warm-up meaningful to the participants?
By this investigation I try to create an image of what role and function the warm-up holds in a choir -practice. At the end I try to indicate what practical implications my results can have.
