Abstract
The thesis aims to investigate how three inter-related dimensions of caring are presented in two selected novels and their film adaptations. The literary texts are A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway and The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje. The main purpose of the thesis is to link two of the main characters, Catherine and Hana, to Kari Martinsen's theory on caring.
