Abstract
This thesis aims at reading "Letters Written During a Short Residence in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark" through the lenses of the Picturesque considered as a set of theories, ideas, and conventions that developed around the question of how to look at landscape and conceptualize nature. On the basis of this approach, I will examine Mary Wollstonecraft’s use of the picturesque tropes in "Letters".
