With a practical project, the design situation of attempting to design and develop a videogame "for women" is explored. The thesis understands this design situation through three perspectives: 1. What does it mean to design for "women's preferences"? 2. What does it mean to design for women's play situations and the social context of playing? 3. How does gender shape the design situation, and how is gender shaped by the design process? The thesis uses theory from interaction design literature, discourse theory and Judith Butler's performative gender theory in order to discuss the qualitative and quantitative findings which are presented.eng
